What is Books, Balls, and Blocks?

Books, Balls, and Blocks is a fun, interactive event for families to learn about child development and community resources. It is a simple set-up with play stations that include activities with books, balls, and blocks for children to enjoy. Caregivers (parents, grandparents, babysitters, etc.) are encouraged to join their children at each play station.

During playtime, caregivers can fill out a free screening to check their child’s developmental milestones. Help Me Grow Long Island uses Brooke’s Publishing Company ASQ Screeners in English and Spanish (with more languages coming soon). After the screening is completed, a Help Me Grow Family Resource Specialist will discuss the results with the caregiver. They will help caregivers understand their child’s development and connect them to local resources for further care.
