New York Child Care Health Consultant Network
Docs for Tots is working to bring together child care health consultants in a learning community to share resources and ideas and to advocate for the important opportunities to expand the workforce and promote health in early care and education settings.
We will be sharing and developing resources and communicating regularly with child care health consultants. Our goal is to offer technical assistance and training as we build our network.

A word from our Director of The Child Care Health Consultant network:
Welcome!
With great pleasure I welcome you to the Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) area of the Docs for Tots website. This will be an area where we, as advocates for the health and safety of children cared for in early learning environments, can discover resources and share our experiences with each other.
I have been working in this field as a Health Care Consultant for a Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agency for almost 10 years now. I have had the privilege of working with a network of dedicated CCHCs who work in CCR&Rs across the state. These dedicated professionals, as well as numerous local, state, and national organizations, have supported the CCHCs as this role has been developed in New York State.
Locally and nationally professional and political leaders now recognize the importance of the first 1,000 days on a young child’s future. Research has made strong connections between early experiences and an individual’s later health and productivity. Child Care Health Consultants are uniquely poised to positively impact the environments and interactions that shape a young child’s brain. Child Care Health Consultants are trusted members of the early care and learning environment’s team of caregivers. We can translate brain research into developmentally appropriate practices for child care program staff and families. We can identify and connect child care professionals and parents with needed resources to ensure that young children develop to their fullest potential.
My goal is to make this area of the Docs for Tots website meaningful and relevant to you. I will share with you anecdotes that highlight some of the challenges, frustrations, and thrills of this field. I will share resources that I have found beneficial and hope that you will do the same. We have much to learn from each other as we strive to ensure that all children have the best possible start in life.
With sincerest thanks for your dedication,
Emily Leone RN, C-PNP
Director of Child Care Health Consultant Network
