2019 State Level Activities

Highlights of Statewide Advocacy Efforts by Docs for Tots

Critical decisions and allocations are made in Albany that affect our ability to change systems that benefit children on Long Island, and across New York. In 2019 we participated in activities at the state level to amplify the voice of young children, such as:

• • Early Care & Learning Council state-wide infant toddler mental health consultation in child care program where we provide expertise and evaluation support 
  • The Education Trust–New York’s Raising New York coalition to advocate for better access to high quality early childhood programs for infants and toddlers
  • Governor’s Early Childhood Advisory Council serving as steering committee member and Chair, Promoting Healthy Development workgroup   
  • New York State’s First 1000 Days on Medicaid, a nationally recognized effort to leverage Medicaid for young children where we supported numerous workgroup activities
  • Help Me Grow – New York working with NY states growing number of communities to build the infrastructure necessary for all young children to succeed
